The upcoming Huntington County Baseball season is a special one, with the youth baseball and softball organization celebrating its 70th season.
It’s a milestone that Jeff Phillips, president of the Huntington County Baseball Board of Directors, is proud of.
“I’ve been doing baseball for a long time and I’ve talked to a lot of people that can’t believe that a rec league like ours has lasted 70 years,” he says. “That’s a big thing.”
HCB will be celebrating its 70th season in a variety of ways. Of the planned activities, the biggest is the HCB Alumni Dinner, set for March 7. Taking place at Drummond’s Motorama City, in Huntington, the event will be an opportunity for anyone who has ever been associated with HCB to congregate and reflect on the organization’s history. A meal by Kim’s Katered Affair will be served and Chapman’s Brewing Company will offer a cash bar. There will be a silent auction and guest speakers.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will start at 6 p.m.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the HCB Scholarship Fund. Tickets can be purchased at www.hcbsports.org by clicking on “Alumni Dinner” at the top of the page.
