Bill Murray offered some kind words for Nationals manager Dave Martinez in light of him winning the World Series.
Murray was approached by a Nationals fan while playing in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament last weekend. A Twitter user by the name of @NavyNatsFan sent the following video in response to a Washington Post feature on the Astros’ cheating scandal, which brings to light how much MLB really knew about the scandal before it became public.
“You want to say congratulations to former Cubs bench coach Davey Martinez?” the Nationals fan requests of Murray, a noted Cubs fan.
“Yes. I’m very proud of former Cubs bench coach Davey Martinez. He won the World Series with the Washington Nationals.”
“He’s a good guy,” Murray added. “And… he didn’t cheat.”
That last line elicited cheers from the crowd of onlookers.
