Baseball players ready for ‘trip of a lifetime’ in Europe

What is a team of Canadians going to do this spring on a European vacation?

Play America’s favourite pastime, of course.

Three Lambton College players will join The North Baseball for its third annual overseas trip from May 25 to June 7.

Lions teammates Riley Brown and Drew Pepper of Brigden and Billy Bourne of Petrolia will play in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Poland.

“It will be the trip of a lifetime,” said Pepper, 19.

“One I won’t ever forget, that’s for sure,” added Bourne, 19.

When they aren’t facing off against European baseball teams, players will sample the local cuisine, culture and history.

The trip combines strikeouts and schnitzel. Breaking balls and beer halls. Round-trippers and day-trippers.

Last year, the team played nine games while visiting eight cities in three countries over 13 days.
