Abbreviated high school baseball season had plenty of excitement.

The high school baseball season may have been shorter than normal, but it sure provided plenty of thrills and spills.

Notre Dame had one of its best seasons in recent history, advancing to the Class 1A state tournament for the first time in 18 years with a solid core of six seniors. The Nikes were knocked out in the state quarterfinals by second-ranked Remsen-St, Mary’s.

Burlington, in its first season in the Southeast Conference, shared the championship with Mount Pleasant in a race that literally came down to the last day.

Central Lee, which qualified for state a year ago, got back to a substate final before bowing out with a loss to sixth-ranked Mid-Prairie.

Mediapolis and New London also put together solid seasons, while Fort Madison had one of its best seasons in years.

All of that balance, thrills and spills are represented in the 2020 All-Hawk Eye baseball team.
